Day 27 – Isla del Sol, Bolivia – Happy New Years 2012

Sun Island eh? Due to rainy season, this name is only true from 11:00 -19:00. That is ok. I still managed to walk the entire Island in this short time frame, AND visit a few ruins.

Day 23, 24, 25 – La Paz, Bolivia

Day 23, 24, 25 – La Paz, Bolivia

La Paz is built in the walls of a canyon. All the buildings are perched precariously and you really hope an earth quake never hits the city because I feel it would completely crumble. As you drive through the city you feel like you are on a giant roller coaster without the safe guards of a seat belt or extremely breaks. Riding in a bumping bus through the EXTREMELY steep and windy streets, it definitely puts your stomach in your throat. So be warned!

Day 16 & 17 – Potosi, Bolivia

Day 16 & 17 – Potosi, Bolivia

When people think of Potosi Bolivia, there are normally three things that people know about the city: Mines, Highest City in the World, and Silver!

Other than being the highest city in the World (4067 masl), I did not partake it the cities famous mine tours or purchase any silver. BUT – I did thoroughly enjoy this small cities vibe and flow during the days leading up to Christmas

Day 11,12,13,14,15 – Bolivia – Salar de Uyuni

So, after making my way from Tilcara to the Border town of La Quieca spending 1 hour crossing the border into Bolivia, and immediately catching a 25B ($4 CAD) taxi ride with the German couple I met on the bus. I was happy in Tupiza. I booked into the Valle Hermano Hostel and was convinced by an 11 year old boy who spoke like an adult to take the 4 day Salar de Uyuni Tour. It would leave on Sunday, 18th December 2011.
